Apples are the essence of fall! Everything about them evokes the season; from their array of colors to varying degrees, right down to thier sweet scent as they cook. For me the smell of the freshly baked apples is one that brings home all the coziness of fall.
This apple cake is a new take on a fall classic, the apple pie. This is a spiced cake with an apple pie filling and topped with a cinnamon buttercream. It can a morning treat with coffee or the perfect ending to a day.
